Aggregate Plant Repairman
Job Summary
The Plant Repairman is primarily responsible for the safe and complete maintenance of various aggregate crushing, washing, and screening plants. The successful candidate will possess broad knowledge of aggregate processing plants, maintenance, repair, and fabrication abilities, and excellent communication and customer service skills. This position requires working together as a team in high-pressure situations to meet our customers’ needs.

Compensation
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of the plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions
- Perform record-keeping requirements relating to safety and maintenance
- Perform repair and maintenance activities including, but not limited to, screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, wear parts replacement, crusher liner changes, water pump service, and perform cutting, grinding, and welding as needed
- Safe operation of heavy equipment used to perform plant maintenance and repair tasks
- Interface with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner; excellent customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills are essential to the success of this position

Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge of various aggregate plant equipment, including hoppers, feeders, conveyors, screens, crushers, classifying tanks and screws, thickeners/clarifiers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and track-mounted screens and crushers
- Proficient and safe operation of mobile equipment used to support repair and maintenance activities, including manlift, forklift, and skid steer
- Familiarity with mine site safety rules and regulations, including MSHA, Cal OSHA, etc.
- Must possess a minimum amount of hand tools and equipment to perform the required work; CalPortland will provide additional specialized tools as necessary
- All tools and equipment must be maintained in safe working order and be compliant for their intended use
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain) for shifts up to 12 hours in length; able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally, climb stairs/ladders, and walk on uneven or rough terrain
- Five years of experience in the mining and/or aggregates industry
- Punctual and reliable, with adequate means of transportation to arrive at work when scheduled
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience with the ability to lead a repair crew of two to four employees
- Proficient knowledge of track-mounted crushing and screening equipment
- Experience in hard rock, drill and blast mining and crushing operations
- Additional equipment training from manufacturers or vendors
- Current MSHA Part 46 training
- Computer skills to perform data entry, print documents and reports, generate work orders, and log maintenance history
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
