Responsibilities
- Control inventories and quality of various materials
- Regulate and order imported materials used in the process as needed to ensure adequate inventory, quality, and minimize costs
- Ensure the testing of all material to guarantee quality and optimize operations; report and file results of testing
- Work with all operating personnel to assist in maintaining efficient, cost-conscious operation while manufacturing a uniform product
- Interpret results of quality control tests and work with Production Engineers to improve operations and lower cost per ton
- Monitor cost control statements for the Laboratory, Quarry, Shipping, and Yards and Roads Departments
- Work with the Production Superintendent, Engineering, and Maintenance Superintendent to solve quality and production problems
- Assist and advise Central Laboratories, Sales Department, and Technical Services with respect to customer service issues
- Communicate with customers information pertaining to product quality and assist with potential problems
- Ensure that alternate new raw materials meet Company guidelines
Education
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, or Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience working in a laboratory in a cement manufacturing plant environment
- Managerial experience
- Must be highly motivated and dedicated to improving the operations of a plant
- Ability to motivate others
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively with others
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
