Job Summary
CalPortland’s vision is to create a learning institution that focuses on the business of building materials, including the technical know-how needed to manufacture and sell cement, concrete, and aggregates. There are limited programs nationwide for professionals in the concrete industry to learn and advance their skills. Designed to meet this need, the Advancement Institute provides individuals with the knowledge and necessary skills to advance their careers. Learners aim to develop business savvy, technical expertise, and leadership skills, earning a certificate for each program completed. This opportunity is for someone who can bring this vision to life. The person will oversee the planning, development, curriculum sourcing, and implementation of the Advancement Institute. Identify, engage, and onboard trainers and facilitators while overseeing marketing and managing the Learning Management System (LMS), including budgeting, revenue, and expenses.

Compensation
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing the Advancement Institute
- Implements Institute operations, including a Learning Management System (LMS), enrolling learners, launching a learning platform, and other related tasks
- Collaborates with senior managers to develop certificate programs (single-course and curriculum-based) that facilitate succession planning, promotions, enhanced performance, personal growth, professional development, and potential certification
- Oversee external vendors providing administrative services to the Institute, including payroll, accounting, tax filings, and legal services
- Responsible for implementing the Learning Management System (LMS) and payment system, including negotiating fees and services
- Manages and negotiates with outside vendors to ensure the delivery of key development programs, systems, and resources
- Identify and contract with trainers and facilitators to develop (as necessary) and deliver content
- Oversee trainers/facilitators to ensure the quality of programs and timely delivery
- Supervise Institute staff
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends training programs to meet training objectives
- Markets Institute programs to relevant companies based on a developed curriculum, targeting sectors such as construction materials companies, mining companies, and engineers
- Establishes fees and enters contracts with clients
- Other duties as assigned
- Some travel will be required
Education
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
- Advanced degrees in Education or a related field are preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in overseeing an educational or training entity (e.g., Charter School, technical training school, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong experience with a robust LMS
- Must be able to reset priorities to meet changing business needs and goals
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to oversee the implementation of software and supporting technology tools
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, including C-Suite executives
- Ability to multitask, manage multiple projects at one time, and rapidly change priorities based on business needs
- Experience with sourcing educators
- Start-up experience is preferred
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
