Instructional Designer
Job Summary
As part of the Talent Management team, design and develop training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, and other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develop curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Writes and edits outlines, syllabi, lecture notes, and course materials for in-person and e-learning courses, as well as self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness.

Responsibilities
- Applies principles of Adult Learning Theory to content design
- Partners closely with the learning team to create full-cycle training
- Coaches trainers or trains new instructors as needed
- Prepares clear and intentional learning objectives
- Estimate scope and resource requirements for training requests
- Collaborate with the Director of Talent Management, SMEs, and stakeholders in the content-build phase
- Ability to support multiple projects at one time
- Assists with content/material updates based on team needs and bandwidth
- Assists with LMS-related needs and requests
- Provides recommendations for new designs or processes
- Experience with data analysis to improve training outcomes
- New LMS implementation
Education
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or education-related field preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Instructional Designer
- Experience or certification in training, content management, curriculum, or instructional design
- Demonstrate use and understanding of ADDIE design methodology
- Strong understanding of SCORM standards and eLearning best practices
- Experience working with SMEs to translate complex information into straightforward, engaging training content
- Ability to support multiple training projects
- Ability to provide material for virtual or classroom-led training
- Familiarity with training software
- Ability to assess training needs
- Travel 10-15%
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
