Job Summary

The BI Developer position resides within the Information Technology Architecture team. This individual will design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that support data-driven decision-making processes. They will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and create visualizations, reports, and dashboards to provide insights into business performance and trends.

Business Intelligence Developers maintain robust business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, and methods. Candidates need a strong background in database technology, ERP systems, and processes, with an emphasis on the use of analytical and reporting tools. They work closely with all levels of employees and must have excellent written and oral communication, research, and analytic abilities to convert functional requirements into technical solutions. Expertise in BI, T-SQL, SQL server, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), and data cube technology is preferred. The role requires strong analytical and creative skills and in-depth knowledge of data systems and database methodology, design, and modeling. Strong communication skills are needed to plan and coordinate data resources.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement BI solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Design and optimize data models and data warehouses to support reporting and analytics requirements
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into BI systems
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Create interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present insights and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Collaborate with business analysts & report writers to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of BI solutions for enhanced speed and efficiency
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in BI and analytics technologies

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a BI Developer or similar role, with expertise in data visualization tools and SQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java is a plus
  • Experience with SDLC, source control, and test management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies is desirable

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
