The Project Engineer supports efforts throughout the company to optimize the operation, performance, reliability, and efficiency of all aggregate and ready mix processes and equipment and provides project management skills to ensure the successful development and completion of projects within budget and on schedule.

Compensation

$95,000 - $120,000 annually DOE

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the engineering phase of capital projects regarding the Northwestern aggregate and ready-mix plants
  • Develop requests for proposals, bid documents, specifications, and contracts with some assistance from senior engineers as needed
  • Evaluates construction, equipment, and service bids and coordinates selection of successful bidders
  • Implementation of capital projects after approval, including site supervision and on-site activities
  • Participates in technical studies, surveys, and site inspections
  • Works closely with engineers, vendors, equipment suppliers, contractors, and plant personnel in the planning and execution of projects  
  • Works closely with purchasing to generate purchase requisitions
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and tracking actual vs. budget costs
  • Monitors project schedules
  • Develops status reports with activity, budget, and schedule updates
  • Participates in and/or runs project meetings
  • Ensures that projects are executed safely per prevailing safety standards and CPC requirements
  • Monitors projects to see if they meet goals, specifications, quality, budget, schedule, and performance guarantees
  • Provide technical expertise in their engineering discipline
     

Education

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Suitable experience will also be considered

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years experience in aggregate and or ready mix manufacturing 
  • Must be highly motivated and be a self-starter
  • Must have strong leadership and communications skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and resolve problems as they arise
  • Must be able to understand engineering drawings and plans
  • Must be willing to travel as required

Preferred: 

  • Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Experience with AggFlow
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with SAP business systems
     

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA-regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
