Plant Clerk/Scale Attendant

Job Summary

The Plant Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties to support the Plant Superintendent and Sales; dispatching and ticketing customer trucks, including answering telephones, quoting prices, taking customer orders, data entry and filing.

Hourly $20.00 to $25.00 DOE


  • Provide administrative support to the Plant Manager and Sales Dept.
  • Set up, weighing, and ticketing trucks
  • Dispatching aggregate delivery trucks and coordinating deliveries
  • Answering telephone, sorting mail, processing COD’s
  • Generating and updating reports for freight, billing, and ticketing
  • Provide hazard (site specific) training to incoming vendors and customer truck drivers
  • Maintaining site regulatory and compliance files
  • Record keeping for production, payroll, inventory, environmental and safety data
  • Computer data entry, producing and updating spreadsheets.
  • Completing various work projects, as assigned


High School Diploma/GED


  • Microsoft Office Experience – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Ability to develop good working relationships
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Mandatory overtime on occasion


  • Previous experience dispatching trucks
  • Previous experience in the building materials industry
  • Working knowledge of SAP

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
