Job Summary

Performs major servicing and repairs on a variety of mechanical, electrical, electronic, powertrain, and hydraulic systems for vehicles, on and off road mining equipment and on-road dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks.

Compensation

$40 - $50 DOE

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair all types of gas and diesel equipment, including, but not limited to, excavators, dozers, off-road trucks, wheel loaders, water & lube trucks, service trucks, pickups, dump trucks/trailers, mixer trucks, and other support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and replace ignition systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, lighting systems, electrical/computer control systems, radio systems and ABS brake system
  • Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials, PTO's and axle assemblies
  • Perform welding and fabrication on mobile and stationary plant equipment as needed
  • Maintain service, maintenance and repair records
  • Repair and maintain shop tools and machinery
  • Prepare work orders and order parts in SAP business system
  • Provide technical assistance, direction and guidance to other shop employees. Assist in the training of other shop employees to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Make emergency field repairs to dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks as needed
  • Safely perform repairs in the field during inclement weather

Education

High school diploma or GED

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Journey status with 5+ years of experience in the maintenance and repair of mining equipment, heavy duty diesel and medium fleet automotive
  • Experience in welding and fabrication
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, chassis and power-train systems
  • Knowledge of industrial and shop safety rules, procedures, and equipment 
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for proper operation before and after maintenance
  • Computer experience entering data for preparing work order and purchasing parts
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Possess own Journeyman level hand tools necessary to perform the functions of the job.
  • Class A CDL with HazMat & Tanker endorsement preferred, but not required
  • First Aid and CPR certification a plus
  • Position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time, lifting arms above shoulder level, bend and stoop repeatedly, able to move heavy objects fifty pounds or more long distances.  Work is performed inside a shop and outside in all weather conditions

Work hours:

Generally a 40 hour work week, although some overtime may be required.  We work 2 shifts, Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday – Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
