Aggregate Operations Foreman (New River)

Job Summary

The Aggregate Plant Foreman is responsible for leading the daily task of production requirements in regards to safety, quality, productivity, and maintenance. Plant functions will include repairs/maintenance of the plant equipment. Ordering parts and supplies needed and daily production reporting. Communicating with manager, production/maintenance teams to ensure successful daily operations. The foreman is responsible for maintaining proper material quality and inventory levels to meet demand. Occasionally with be required to operate mobile equipment and plants. The foreman will be required to maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant operation. A strong background in aggregate plant operations with an emphasis on strong leadership and proactive maintenance/repair skills are needed to be successful in this role. The position requires the ability to work safely and efficiently in a multi-tasking environment. Hands-on experience and knowledge of crushers, screens, washing plants, pumps, haul trucks, and loaders is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections of the plant equipment, mobile equipment and plant site to ensure face, reliable and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions
  • Accurately completes and maintains (maintenance, environmental, safety, & production) reports and compliance records
  • Learn and follow all CalPortland policies
  • Perform record keeping requirements relating to safety, production and maintenance
  • Successfully completes and maintains Method 9 Emissions certification
  • Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, haul trucks and water trucks
  • Participate in repair and maintenance activities including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, crusher line changes, and perform cutting, grinding and welding as needed
  • Interface with internal and external customers, vendors and contractors in a professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience in aggregate producing facility or related processes.
  • Work environment may include moving mechanic parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises, requiring the consistent use of appropriate PPE.
  • Experience as a heavy equipment operator including loaders, bull dozers, off road trucks, and excavators
  • Familiarity with aggregates and construction materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in various aggregate plant equipment (crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers, and various other types of fixed and mobile equipment used in the aggregate industry)
  • Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling and distribution of aggregates
  • Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Physical requirements: using various hand tools, working in inclement weather, able to lift/move up to 100 lbs., climbing, walking and standing
  • Ability to lift and or move 75 lbs. on a routine basis; 100 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Able to work in wet and /or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
  • Current MSHA training certification preferred
  • Experience welding and cutting a plus

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
