Tower Attendant
Job Summary
This is a full-time, hourly opening, based at the Oro Grande Cement Plant. Schedule is a 12-hour rotating shift (days/evenings).
The Tower Attendant performs housekeeping duties, routinely inspecting and lubricating machinery, collects measurements and samples and assists in operations as needed.

Compensation
$34.59/hour - $36.59/hour
Responsibilities
- Inspects and lubricates plant machinery
- Maintains proper operations of plant equipment
- Check all equipment in tower area
- Obtain raw feed measurement and calcination on a regular time schedule
- Keep all cyclones; gas and feed vessels clear of build-up
- Maintain operation of blend silos and kiln feed system
- Assist with kiln repairs
- Keep preheat tower and GCT clean of build-up
- Measure silos periodically, service inlet 02 analyzer when necessary
- Keep gas conditioning tower clear
- Assure that blending silo material empties into proper storage silo and that the silos are feeding properly
- Ensure blend silo dust collector is clear
- Check tipping valves and lubricate as needed
- Unplug cyclone as it plugs
- Clean water pump strainers as needed
- Job duties include handling and using high pressure gas devices with Federal ATF, state, and county requirements which must be completed
- Perform clean up duties in all areas of the facility
- Assist in other plant operations as necessary
Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Ability to meet Federal, ATF, state, and county requirements for cardox handling job tasks, which requires the chosen candidate to successfully apply for and be cleared by the Federal ATF post-hire.
- Familiarity with computers
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English language
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility including systems to remove tower plugs
- Obtain the physical ability to:
- Sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Climb on equipment, stairs and ladder as high as 380 feet in elevation
- Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground) and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
- Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
- Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process
- Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
- Exposure to cement, clay, limestone and various lab chemicals; see MSDS for more details
- Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces
Preferred:
- Preferred knowledge of all types of equipment used in the manufacturing of cement
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
