The Stores Supervisor manages and administers the warehouse/stores program for the Oro Grande Cement Plant.

Compensation
The current annual salary range is $80,000 - $90,000.
Responsibilities
- Manage and administer plant Stores program and supervise warehouse personnel
- Follow and properly administer company policies, practices, and processes
- Assist in maintaining a Stores inventory that supports the goals of the organization
- Reduce inventory wherever possible to include removing obsolete items, reducing maximums where possible, elimination of stock numbers of items readily available by local vendors
- Work closely with the Regional Buyer and Corporate Purchasing Dept.
- Plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received from suppliers, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so parts and supplies are located and distributed to proper departments in an effective and efficient manner
- Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving mission
- Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors, and evaluates the performance of warehouse associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary
- Research material handling equipment to ensure procurement of the most suitable equipment in terms of performance, safety, reliability, and cost
- Monitors the unloading of materials into the receiving department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving in SAP accurately reports materials physically received
- Helps resolve discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports
- Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control
- Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
- Enforces safety standards and ensures MSHA compliance
- Prepares shipping documentation and other related paperwork as needed
- Orders, receives, and maintains equipment, materials, and tools
- Supervise counting, weighing, and identifying materials meant for shipment
- Check and verify materials in the warehouse periodically
- Resolve employee conflicts, as well as keep employees motivated and on-task
- Devise plans of action and assess those plans regularly
- Perform timely data entry of purchase orders, inventory, and associated department data
- Provide information to other departments, divisions, and vendors
- Evaluate quotes for parts and supplies as needed
- Establishes guidelines and procedures for inventory control of two storerooms
- Initiates requisitions as needed for the replenishment of depleted stock; reviews requisitions to ensure proper coding and budget allocation
- Checks quantity and quality of goods received for conformity to purchase orders and specifications, notes and reports shortages, damages, and other discrepancies
- Cross-trained to cover regional buyer in his absence
- Maintain clear and concise communication, and courteous, professional relationships with all employees at all levels, as well as with vendors
- Demonstrates CalPortland’s mission statement and shared values in daily actions, service, attitude; represents the department in a manner that conveys pride, competence, integrity, and professionalism
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Course work towards a degree in Supply Chain Management or Procurement preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic purchasing and inventory management concepts and techniques
- Supervisory and leadership skills preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong work ethic
- Team player
- Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure with competing priorities and departments
- Ability to carry a company-provided phone and be available while away from the plant
Preferred:
- Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
- SAP experience
- Cement Plant Knowledge
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
