Outside Sales Representative

Job Summary

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for sales and sales-related activities (expanding current customer base, quotes, customer care, site plans, blueprints, etc.) for underground precast concrete customers. They will work with both inside and outside sales employees and assist in the development of new and future precast products.    


  • Nurture relationships with major accounts, existing and prospective customers; expand current customer base
  • Service and visit job sites
  • Review plan and specifications as submitted by agencies and contractors
  • Provide input in the design and creation of drawings and plans for precast concrete forms and products
  • Develop and implement guidelines for project submittals
  • Preparation of project quotations as needed to support production and sales
  • Evaluate and advise management on new product opportunities
  • Review any customer complaints and develop plans for resolution
  • Review plans and specifications; determine which products to market to specific projects/contractors
  • Call on city, county, state, sewer, and water agencies as required
  • Maintain current knowledge of state, county, and local plans and specifications
  • Work closely with General Sales Manager, Inside Sales, Dispatch and production personnel
  • Work with General Manager to establish pricing and the competitive market environment
  • Develop marketing strategies for new and developing product lines i.e. manholes, storm drains, Norweco (Septic Systems), and all special products
  • Promote the company’s products and services to agencies, consulting engineers, and contractors; foster relationships to gain acceptance of new products and services
  • Review Green Sheets (Dodge Reports)
  • Analyze customer accounts for volumes and pricing
  • Assist will call and dispatch as necessary 
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions, pricing, and competition
  • Participate in sales forecasts and yearly budgeting
  • Review sales information and reports in SAP


High school diploma/GED


  • Must be able to read and understand site plans and blueprints
  • Strong interpersonal skills


  • Background and experience in underground construction (sewer, storm drain, and septic)

Conditions of Employment
