Scale Attendant/Weigh Master (Aggregate)

Job Summary

The Scale Attendant/Weigh Master is primarily responsible for weighing and ticketing trucks entering and leaving the aggregate yard. This individual will also perform a variety of clerical duties to support the Plant Manager and Sales, including answering telephones, quoting prices, taking customer orders, data entry and filing. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who knows initiative, has a friendly personality and can develop good working relationships with other internal departments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Plant Manager and Sales Department
  • Set-up, weigh and ticket trucks
  • Dispatch aggregate delivery trucks and coordinate deliveries
  • Answer high volume calls and respond to customer requests
  • Sort mail, process COD’s
  • Generate and update reports for freight, billing, and ticketing
  • Data entry, generate scale tickets, computation, reconciliation, record keeping, and reporting
  • Provide hazard (site specific) training to incoming vendors and customer truck drivers
  • Maintain site regulatory and compliance files
  • Must have a proven track record of excellent attendance and have reliable transportation
  • Complete various work projects, as assigned
Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Position requires practical office skills (minimum 2 years)
  • Strong communication skills and excellent customer service skills are a top priority
  • Microsoft Office Experience – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions
  • Motivated self-starter; ability to work independently
  • Position requires flexible schedule with ability to work longer hours (including occasional Saturday)
  • Standing, walking, sitting; work in a construction environment (dirt, noise, etc.)
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
