Plant Laborer
Job Summary
The Plant Laborer will perform duties associated to the cleanliness of the plant and equipment, as well as routine maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on the plant and equipment such as lubricating, fueling, cleaning and assisting with repairs
- Drive vehicles to maintain dust control on plant grounds and haul roads
- Will be required to perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections on all equipment they are required to operate (including but not limited to loaders)
- Work safely and efficiently to complete assigned tasks
- Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays
- Repair crusher, i.e. liner changes, oil systems and operations, monitor and change worn parts
- Repair conveyor systems, i.e. bearing replacement, drive systems, change screen cloths, structural fabrication
- General maintenance of water pumps and electrical requirements and wear-prevention of equipment
- Operate mobile equipment including man lifts and some heavy equipment
- General labor duties such as shoveling and sweeping
- Job duties described are not exhaustive and may be supplemented from time to time as necessary without prior notice
Education
High School Diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Job requires the following abilities: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, frequent lifting of 75 lbs., occasional lifting of 100 lbs., stretching, driving, sitting and shifting of gears
- Must have a valid current Driver’s license/clean driving record
- Must have reliable transportation and excellent attendance
- Able to work flexible hours with varying start and stop times; overtime work will be required as needed by the company
- Able to use a shovel, broom to clean plant grounds and surrounding area of the plant
- Able to efficiently use and operate hand and power tools
- Must be able to communicate with company personnel by radio and able to work cooperatively and efficiently with others
- May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather and be able to work in wet environments
- Must meet OSHA 10 guidelines and be able to follow all CalPortland Safety Policies
- Steel toe boots are required
- Approved PPE will be provided and must be sued when required
- Able to read and write in English
- Ability to work under pressure
- Work with minimal supervision
- New Hires will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and must test negative on a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen upon offer of employment
- Will be subject to random drug and alcohol screening as required by company policy
Preferred:
- 1-3 years preferred, but willing to train
- Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment
- Welding experience a plus
- Understanding of operations and safety requirements for the equipment
- Understanding of the type and quality of materials being produced
