Ready Mix Batch Plant Operator

Job Summary

The Ready-Mix Plant Operator Assistant is responsible for safely operating and performing all service maintenance of a Ready-Mix Plant, including routine clean up, all paperwork and reporting, ordering materials, maintaining the site, as well as, being responsible for CalPortland SLAM and Safety programs. Maintenance and housekeeping will be required to protect and prolong the life of our assets and prevent outages causing potential problems for customers.

Compensation

$25.92 - $43.20 DOE

Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, haul trucks and water trucks
  • Address any housekeeping issues within the workspace
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays
  • Perform record keeping requirements relating to safety, production and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must have mechanical skills and the ability to problem solve equipment problems
  • Reading and writing skills required
  • Ability to work safely, observing and following  Health, Environmental and Safety rules and Policies always, ensuring all plant personnel do the same
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment and build teamwork
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Over-time and night work may be required
  • Physical requirements:  ability to lift/move 75 pounds, climb, bend, squat, stretch, drive, twist, climbing, walking, and use push/pull controls,
  • Use of various hand tools
  • Ability to work in and tolerate extreme weather, heat/cold, wet/dry conditions
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers and various other types of fixed equipment used in the industry
  • CDL a plus

 

Preferred:

  •  Trained in Ready Mix Operation and Plant Maintenance programs a plus
  • Welding experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
