Quality Control Lab Technician (Aggregates)
Job Summary
The Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for quality control testing and reporting duties in the aggregates testing laboratory. This individual is responsible for pulling samples from stockpiles, testing and evaluating materials, and comparing it to the specifications.

Compensation
$22.50 - $25.00/ hr DOE
Responsibilities
- Perform gradations tests on rock and sand samples along with tests such as cleanliness values, #200 wash, sand equivalency, specific gravities and absorptions
- Enter test results into database and distribute reports as required
- Accurately weigh each material as listed on the trial batch sheets and set up equipment for trial testing
- Conduct scheduled calibrations on test equipment per calibration schedule
- Maintain work area and office equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times
- Perform sample preparations and standard quality tests on construction aggregates
- Assist lab and field QC Supervisors on duties that pertain to sampling and testing aggregates
- Work with plant operators, co-workers, and drivers
- Diagnose and repair all types of gas and diesel equipment including, but not limited to: excavators, dozers, and off-road trucks.
Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- More than 1 year of experience working on crushing equipment and heavy machinery
- One-year loader experience preferably in quarry or mining
- Job requires the following motions; climbing, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, riding, vibration, twisting, pushing/pulling of controls, and riding on rough terrain
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Use of hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers
- Exposed to extremes of hot and cold weather
- Ability to follow company policies; work cooperatively with others
- Obtain and maintain all necessary OSHA and MSHA training certifications
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships
- Familiarity with & ability to follow MSHA/OSHA safety guidelines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime when required; overtime work plus nights may be required
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
