Aggregate Plant Superintendent

Job Summary

The Aggregate Plant Superintendent has overall responsibility and operation of the aggregate production plant, mining operations, material load-out, maintenance, mobile equipment and overall site facilities.  Duties include, operating equipment, planning and budgeting, ensuring the operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with environmental requirements and in the most efficient and effective way.  In addition to the aggregate production responsibilities, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for plant efficiencies, safety, environmental, quality control, employee development and financial performance.


  • Responsible for mine planning, safety, environmental matters, cost control, production and maintenance for 150 thousand ton per year Quarry operation
  • Responsible for operating equipment such as loaders, plants, dozers and excavators
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring production plan; maintaining accurate cost and inventory control; calculating and analyzing productivity and material data
  • Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers
  • Maintains duties related to MSHA regulations including accident investigation and reporting, safety meetings, training, etc.; actively engages with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors; ensures that safety, compliance and environmental requirements are followed
  • Oversees and directly participates in mobile and plant equipment repair and maintenance
  • Oversees maintenance planning and cost control
  • Works closely and effectively with safety, environmental, quality and materials performance
  • Documents production statistics and produces reports as required
  • Responsible for capital and operating budget processes
  • Maintains working relationships with all departments to ensure work objectives are met
  • Develops plans to work towards improved performance and lower operating costs


High School Diploma or GED equivalent


  • 5 years’ industry experience
  • Demonstratable experience in all aspects of crushing, screening, washing and stockpiling to produce high quality construction aggregates
  • Demonstratable experience in hard rock drill and blast mining operations
  • Good analytical, communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • Personnel management experience including selection and hiring, performance reviews, discipline and legal compliance
  • Strong math skills
  • Familiar with systematic engineering thought process and problem solving
  • Familiar with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office Software
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations regarding mining operations including MSHA


  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Aggregate processing equipment training through manufacturers or vendors
