Project Engineer

Job Summary

The Project Engineer will manage engineering projects from conception, design, procurement, installation, project cost, and commissioning to include review of project performance with plant operations and maintenance personnel. Duties will include construction management, scheduling, managing contractors, and safety. Projects will include multiple disciplines as dictated by the individual scope of work.

Compensation

Salary $115,000 to $145,000 DOE

Responsibilities

  •  
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of capital project budgets including justifications, conceptual design, scope of project, cost estimating etc. 
  • Create drawings for assigned projects including concept sketches, layouts, and general arrangements (basic 2D CAD skills required)
  • Assist management in mine planning with mine maps and on-site ground marking using drone mapping and simple transit and tape measurements
  • Coordinate licensed surveys and inventory flights with 3rd party providers
  • Lay-out plant additions and modifications, supervise and coordinate foundation and equipment installations (Use of a transit will be required)
  • Perform load ratings on simple structures and equipment as requested by plant and safety managers
  • Calculate and specify pumps and piping systems for plain water and sand slurry systems.
  • Create fabrication drawings for conveyors, screen towers, crusher stands, etc. and supervise their fabrication at company fabrication shops
  • Assist in design improvements and maintenance for marine loading and unloading terminals
  • Understand basic 480V electrical systems and work with electricians on system design and componentry selection
  • Review design calculations and drawings generated by engineering firms, consultants and/or contractors for functionality and compliance with company standards
  • Provide design calculations and drawings for projects that are engineered within the department, obtain limited scope building permits, stamp plans for submittal
  • Maintain department files for reference - project, CAD and historical paper drawings

Education

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil, Mining or Mechanical Engineering

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 2D AutoCAD proficient
  • Excellent problem solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  •  

Preferred:

  • Experience in mining, concrete or other materials industries including in operations

  • Civil or Mining P.E. License

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
