Aggregate Operations Foreman
Job Summary
The Aggregate Plant Foreman is responsible for leading the daily task of production requirements in regards to safety, quality, productivity and maintenance. Plant functions will include repairs/ maintenance of the plant equipment. Ordering parts and supplies needed and daily production reporting. Communicating with manager, production/maintenance teams to ensure successful daily operations. The foreman is responsible for maintaining proper material quality and inventory levels to meet demand. Occasionally will be required to operate mobile equipment and plants. The foreman will be required to maintain a safe, clean and environmentally compliant operation. A strong background in aggregate plant operations with an emphasis on strong leadership and proactive maintenance /repair skills are needed to be successful in this role. The position requires the ability to work safely and efficiently in a multi-tasking environment. Hands on experience and knowledge of crushers, screens, washing plants, pumps, haul trucks and loaders is required. |

Responsibilities
- Learn and follow all CalPortland policies
- Knows an uses appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
- Performs safety/quality/mechanical inspections of the plant and mobile equipment
- Addresses any housekeeping issues within the work area
- Operates loaders, excavators, haul trucks, skid steers, bull dozers
- Performs plant maintenance
- Diligent in producing a quality product
- Understands the process flow of the plant
- Regularly monitors performance on all pieces of the plant within the process
- Accurately completes and maintains (maintenance, environmental, safety, and production) reports and compliance records
- Successfully completes and maintains Method 9 Emissions certification
- Works irregular and extended hours and weekends to meet customer requirements and/or maintenance within the facility
- Understands MSHA rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Education
High school diploma/GED
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in leadership role
- 5+ years of experience in aggregate producing facility or related processes
- Must have valid Arizona Driver's License and have reliable transportation to work
- Has good communication, problem solving, and leadership skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, works well with others
- Work environment may include moving mechanic parts, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noises, requiring the consistent use of appropriate PPE
- Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers, and various other types of fixed and mobile equipment used in the aggregate industry
- Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling, and distribution of aggregates.
- Experience as a heavy equipment operator including loaders, bull dozers, off-road trucks, and excavators.
Preferred:
- Current MSHA Training Certification
- Willing to provide own tools typically used for Aggregate Facilities
- Experience with welding and cutting
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and/or move 75 pounds on a regular basis, and 100 pounds on an occasional basis
- Able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, drive, ride, twist, push/pull of controls, and ride on rough terrain.
- Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
