Marine Superintendent

Job Summary

The Marine Superintendent provides leadership and supervision to employees assigned to vessel unloading & production at their assigned terminal. 


  • Lead, maintain, communicate, and hold accountable all employees, vendors, and suppliers to the highest standards of CalPortland’s safety program
  • Lead, maintain, communicate, and hold accountable all employees, vendors, and suppliers to the highest standards of CalPortland’s environmental program; maintain, always, proper permits and mining permit conditions
  • Responsible for proper maintenance and operation of all equipment and machinery
  • Meet or exceed all internal and external customer, suppliers & organizational needs all the times, focusing on meeting operational goals
  • Develop, train, and encourage employees to maintain the best practices and company goals that the industry has to offer
  • Create & maintain a team culture that focuses on the continuous improvement of processes, practices, equipment, methods of unloading, transportation, maintenance, scheduling, and off-loads


High school diploma/GED


  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience supervising/managing a team in a work environment
  • Minimum of five years of working on the water (river or ocean) in heavy industry or support
  • Ability to establish goals, priorities, and expectations to obtain optimal performance
  • Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime when required

Conditions of Employment
