Aggregate Plant Operator

Job Summary

The Plant Operator is expected to perform a combination of duties involving general maintenance/operation of an aggregate plant.  Majority of the work is outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily service requirements of the aggregate plant for preventative maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays.
  • Perform record keeping requirements relating to safety, production and maintenance.
  • Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, haul trucks and water trucks.
  • Participate in repair and maintenance activities including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, crusher line changes, and perform cutting, grinding and welding as needed.
  • General maintenance of water pumps and electrical requirements and wear-prevention of equipment.
  • Fabricate and repair conveyors and hoppers.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager such shoveling, sweeping, and clean up.

Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Class C license with clean driving record.
  • Reliable attendance for varied work shifts including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling and distribution of aggregates
  • Excellent customer service, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Physical requirements: using various hand tools, working in inclement weather, able to lift/move up to 95 lbs., climbing, walking and standing
  • Ability to lift and or move 50 lbs. on a routine basis; 95 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Able to work in wet and /or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
  • Current MSHA training certification preferred
  • Experience welding and cutting a plus
